Simona Bordoni, UniTRENTO

Romantic Disaster is an oxymoron, a romantic look at Nature's destruction and Nature the destroyer.
The stage form is that of a live-set where the use of digital coexists with analogue.
The dramaturgy is constructed as a concept album around the dialectic between the climate change of yesterday and today.
On the one hand the Global Cooling triggered by the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815 and on the other the Global Warming we are experiencing.
At the centre are the young people: the Fridays for Future activists, the three young English poets Keats, Byron and Shelley, and the writer Mary Shelley, who knew nothing about Tambora but saw the environment around them changing and expressed their concerns in poetry.
Poetry becomes song, music, a battle cry. A hymn to the Beauty that must not die and to the young souls who guard it.

Simona Bordoni studies climate on a large scale and the dynamics that determine its variability and changes, both past and future. She is particularly interested in the role that atmospheric circulations play in regulating the hydrological cycle in areas that are extremely sensitive to global warming, such as the Mediterranean and monsoon areas.
Bordoni graduated in Physics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 1996. She completed her PhD in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of California at Los Angeles in 2007, and later that year was a Moore Postdoctoral Scholar at Caltech. She then worked at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado as a postdoctoral researcher. She taught at Caltech, first as an assistant and then full professor of Environmental Science and Engineering, from 2009 to 2019. In 2019, she moved to the University of Trento (Italy) to start a position as Full Professor of Atmospheric Physics.
