It is night. In the middle of a barren clearing among burnt trees, an open coffin reveals the body of Papa Smurf, dead with a knife stuck in his heart.
His greed, his arrogance, has caused the Smurf-citizens to awaken from their torpor.
They raised their weapon and, at the same time, their level of participation. The dictatorship evaporated along with the dictator.
How now to govern the village, to govern themselves?
"Krisi" tells of a process of social levitation from a political point of view. Of that vertical tension that forces one to change one's way of life. Of the quest for elevation that slips from the individual to the public plane. Of those thymotic citizens who, in the words of Sloterdijk, read the mysterious verb 'emanate' that in the German constitution says that all state power emanates from the people, as "an invitation to come out of their own four walls to express what they want, what they know and what they fear." And that when this ire 'does its job well', it gives rise to 'new architectures of political participation'. Of those citizens who stubbornly think along the lines of an ancient African proverb: 'If you do something for me, without me, you do it against me'. And who then demand listening and sharing. In the time of the ancient Greeks, the goal of such upward striving was wisdom; today that word seems obsolete, the same dangerous practice of civic participation does not lose its bite.
